Tuesday, April 27th 2010 – The Ventura County Board of Supervisors reopened enrollment for the County Health Care Agency’s health coverage program for low-income uninsured adults – a program it calls ACE – Access Coverage Enrollment plan!
To qualify in the program, people must earn less than 200% of the federal poverty level which is around $21,660 for a single person. Further the person has to be uninsured and – due to federal regulations – has to prove U.S. citizenship.
Once enrolled, care can be accessed at any facility operated by the Ventura County Medical Center, including Santa Paula Hospital, the VCMC ambulatory Care System, behavioral Health Clinics and the Public Health Preventative Health Clinics as well as Clinicas Del Camino Real medical centers.
In regards to pricing: An enrollee’s annual costs are based on income and are capped at $200. Copayments are $15 for primary care appointments, $20 for specialist visits and $100 for five days in the hospital. As is also beginning to take shape in the private insurance market segment, the plan emphasizes the value of preventive care including early identification and treatment protocol for conditions including heart disease and diabetes.
The team at Vitality applauds the Ventura County Board of Supervisors for their actions in reopening the program which had been frozen to new enrollees since April of 2009.
