Readers of the Vitality Blog know that Vitality’s home office is located in Ventura, California. We serve California health insurance clients from around the state and we’re also a proud member of the Ventura business community as well as having team members who are proud members of the Ventura County community at large.
Also serving the Ventura Community is the Community Memorial Health System with its Community Memorial Hospital here in Ventura; Ojai Valley Community Hospital located in Ojai; along with various Centers for Family Health located around Ventura County. Also serving the medical needs of community residents is the Ventura County Medical Center. Since both hospitals are located on the same major thoroughfare here in Ventura, both area residents and visitors to the community have seen the building projects and growth of these two facilities over the course of time. In fact, Community Memorial is planning to build an entirely new facility which will sit adjacent to the existing facility and is scheduled to be opened for use by 2013.
We mention these projects because both are likely indicative of the need for better, more efficient delivery of hospital services and other health care systems to serve the needs of California health insurance consumers as we welcome the positive impact Health Reform and the Affordable Care Act will have on the number of insured California residents in the years ahead. It is estimated that 32 million previously uninsured Americans will have access to health coverage because of the new legislation.
Health Reform has brought or will bring many changes to the California health insurance scene and those changes are already taking place: Access to health coverage for young adults who can continue to utilize their parents’ California health plans; the establishment of federally funded high risk pools for adults with pre-existing conditions that had previously precluded their access to affordable California health insurance plan options. Changes and new regulations will be coming online over the course of the next few years, all leading up to the full implementation of Health Exchanges scheduled for unveiling in 2014.

Our 100th Blog article is here! Well we’ve been pretty busy here at the Vitality Blog since launching just a short while ago! Did you know Ventura, California is the home to a Best Day Foundation chapter? The Best Day Foundation helps make it possible for special needs children to build up their confidence and self esteem by providing these children with such safe and fun adventure activities as surfing and body boarding!
As just about every Ventura resident knows, Ventura is blessed with some great surfing spots and surfers and we’re equally blessed with volunteers from this program and fellow members of our community who have dedicated themselves to helping children enjoy a day of water sports that will be a great time for the child and their family!
